Expressions of Interest for National Food Waste Reduction Programmes

Overview

The Ministry for the Environment is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) to develop and deliver national programmes that reduce food waste. This will help us achieve our emissions reduction plan outcomes. These may be existing or new programmes.

We want to invest in three types of programmes:

  1. National programmes to help households prevent and reduce food waste.
  2. National programmes by-Māori-for-Māori to support Māori-led settings (such as marae, kōhanga reo, kura kaupapa and papakāinga) to prevent and reduce food waste.
  3. National programmes to drive business practices that prevent food waste, including voluntary agreements to reduce food waste.

The call for expressions of interest closed on Sunday 4 December.

What happens next

After shortlisting, we will invite shortlisted respondents organisations to give a presentation. Successful organisations are likely to be informed by the end of January 2023. Following this the Ministry will work with these organisations to progress programmes in 2023.
