Update price control settings for units
6. What do you think the main drivers of market demand for NZUs are?
Please explain your answer here
Consumption of fossil fuels, in particular for transport and energy.
7. What do you think of the approach of setting price controls with reference to prices required to deliver gross emissions reductions?
Please explain your answer here
Too weak at present, so I favour the Climate Change Commission's recommendations- in particular as this will reduce not only emissions but our future national liability.
8. Do you think it is appropriate to consider inflationary impacts in adjusting settings?
Please explain your answer here
Yes, entirely logical or the price is not increasing relative to inflation adjusted prices or GDP.
9. What do you think of the proposed auction price floor settings? What impacts do you think will result from different settings?
Please explain your answer here
I favour the Climate Change Commission's recommendations- in particular as this will reduce not only emissions but our future national liability.
10. Do you think the cost containment reserve should consist of one or two tiers?
Please explain your answer here
Two, as recommended by the Commission.
11. What do you think of the proposed cost containment reserve trigger price settings? What impacts do you think will result from different settings?

We need to send a stronger price signal, in particular for light vehicle owners.
We need to send a stronger price signal, in particular for light vehicle owners.
12. How do you think of the cost containment reserve volume should be calculated?
Please explain your answer here
As proposed, to reduce the liquidity by 2030 to a year's consumption.
13. Are there further impacts at these prices that should be considered?
Please explain your answer here
Impact on import exposed manufacturing industries. I like the idea of embodied emissions being charged for at the border, when imports come form countries without carbon trading or taxation systems. This can be explained as not a tariff but a standard duty, and will encourage our trading partners to lower emissions.
15. What role should price controls play in containing the level of impacts, and what price control settings would be required for this?
Please explain your answer here
No it is inappropriate.
16. If prices reached those presented in the cost containment reserve trigger price options above, do you feel that you have options to change behaviours or make new investments to address the impacts?
Please explain your answer here
Yes.
17. Could you change behaviours or make new investments to mitigate the impact of higher prices on yourself?
Please explain your answer here
Yes, I can use the EV more and ICE vehicle less also cycle more. I currently do not fly due to the high emissions produced.

I think the recommendations made by the CCC should be implemented as they propose, with cost mitigation measures for electricity prices.
